Mareike is working as a Research Officer on the National DBT project since February 2015 and her main responsibility is setting up a pilot study of a DBT informed programme for transition year students in Cork. She also has a supportive role assisting the other members of the research team in their tasks with the co-ordinated implementation of DBT in Ireland.
In 2012 she graduated from Dublin Business School with a BA (Hons) Psychology and conducted a quantitative research project on the social behaviour of children in kindergartens. She then returned to Germany to gain work experience in a Child and Youth Psychiatry. This followed by a job in Barretstown over the summer season. From 2013 to 2014 she completed a Masters in Applied Psychology. As part of her degree she conducted a mixed method research project evaluating a skills programme (Kids’ Skills) with children aged 5 years. Furthermore during her degree, she was able to gain practical clinical psychology experience through a placement with the HSE where she was introduced to the National DBT project.
