We at the National Suicide Research Foundation in Cork would like to invite you to attend the Cork Cycle Around the Globe event taking place on Friday September 11th in Support of World Suicide Prevention Day 2015.
World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) takes place this year on September 10th and to mark this many events are organised worldwide which you can get involved in! This day provides an opportunity for public and professionals to unite in action with our shared goal of preventing suicide.
The Cycle Around the Globe event is a key element of WSPD annually. The aim of the activity is to empower people from across the globe and all sectors of society to take part in group or individual cycling events, with the ultimate aim of cycling the circumference of the entire globe. In 2014 alone the total distance reached by our eager cycle participants was almost four times the circumference of the planet, a total of 121,963.3 miles!
The Cork cycle around the globe is an event open to everyone of all ages and cycling abilities. It is a guided 8km cycle taking in the outskirts of Cork City.
The cycle takes place at 1pm on Friday September 11th leaving from outside the Western Gateway Building (UCC) on Western Road and we would be delighted if you would join us! In advance of your participation please RSVP Caroline Daly at CarolineDaly@ucc.ie or via telephone on 021 4205551 before the event day.
With the recent placement of bikes for hire everyone can join in. For information on hiring a bike in Cork for this event please see: https://www.bikeshare.ie/
