Project Overview

Suicide or Survive (SOS), established in 2003, is a national suicide prevention and mental health promotion charity.

SOS provides suicide prevention and mental health programmes to the community, minority groups, and the workplace, with these programmes delivered through the lens of lived experience.

The National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) commissioned the National Suicide Research Foundation to undertake a high-level evaluation of the effectiveness and implementation of programmes provided by SOS, which are funded by NOSP.

Project Aims

  • Provide a summary of the structure of SOS and the programmes established and run by SOS

  • Use an implementation framework to assist in the mapping of recommendations and data collected across all programmes based on previously conducted evaluations

  • Collect primary data to establish the factors related to the implementation, sustainability and scalability of SOS programmes.

  • Conduct a cost-benefit analysis using CORE-OM outcome measure data and costing of programme delivery.
