Elizabeth is a post-doctoral researcher working on the Irish Defence Force project, which is examining the incidence of suicide among members of the Irish Defence Forces, and aims to identify if there is an increased risk of suicide among this population.
Following her undergraduate degree in 2017, she enlisted in the National Youth Service Corps and was assigned to the Evangel Fistula Centre in Jos as a Research officer. She later advanced to the role of Programme Officer at the same centre and served as an interim training officer for the Christoffel Blinden Mission Women’s Health Programme in Germany. In 2020, Elizabeth completed a master’s at the University College Cork in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has worked as an Epidemiologist at two regional Departments of Public Health Departments in the South and Midwest regions, supporting the development of research and surveillance capacities in Ireland.
Before joining the NSRF, Elizabeth’s PhD at the UCC School of Public Health in 2025, used a multi-methods approach to examine long-term mental health disorders following pregnancy and birth complications.
Beyond the scope of research, Elizabeth is passionate about obstetric fistula and youth empowerment, where she has gained experience and made a great impact through volunteering.
