Dr Mary Joyce is manager of the National Self-Harm Registry Ireland and a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Suicide Research Foundation.

Mary graduated with a PhD in Applied Psychology from University College Cork in 2013. Prior to her work on the National Self-Harm Registry Ireland, Mary was the coordinator of the National Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Project Ireland. The National DBT Project Ireland provided DBT training to clinicians in community mental health services across Ireland, and a comprehensive evaluation of this national level multi-site implementation was conducted as part of the project.

Mary’s research interests include the evaluation of interventions for individuals with high risk self-harm and improving access to services for individuals who self-harm. She has a number of articles published in peer reviewed journals, in addition to two book chapters and a number of reports. Mary has over ten years of experience as a lecturer, demonstrator and tutor for which she has primarily focused on teaching Research Methods and Statistical Applications in Psychology. She has also been a placement supervisor for students completing the Masters in Applied Psychology in UCC. She is a member of the UCC Clinical Psychology Research Ethics Committee and ENGAGE (Interdisciplinary Clinical Mental Health Research Network).
