Noreen is a Sociologist working as a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher in the National Suicide Research Foundation since October 2024. Her current work involves researching and evaluating the impacts and outcomes of mental health and suicide prevention programmes, interventions and services funded by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP).

Other recent research Noreen has been involved in includes Phase 1 of the TARA Project, University College Cork, which explored the effects of a Continuing Development Training in Trauma-informed Care on practitioners’ outcomes.

Noreen also worked in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC on projects regarding the promotion of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine across the EU, and the feasibility of a Women’s Survivorship Clinic in Cork University Hospital, addressing symptoms experienced by women impacted by cancer treatment. 

Her interests include implementation science research and Health Impact Assessment (HIA) to assess mental health interventions from a social determinants of health and health equity perspective. Noreen is a member of the ISS21 Children and Young People Cluster, UCC, the Inclusion Health Research Group, UCC, and HIA networks in Ireland and Scotland. She has a PhD (Sociology) from University College Cork, a HDip in Business from the University of Galway, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from University College Dublin.
