
Karen is a Research Assistant with the National Suicide Research Foundation. In this role, Karen is working on a project examining suicide rates among current and former members of the defence forces, both nationally and internationally.
Karen completed an MA in Applied Psychology (Mental Health) at University College Cork (UCC) in 2025, which included a clinical placement with the HSE Mental Health and Intellectual Disability team. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Queen’s University Belfast and a Foundation Degree in Counselling from the University of Ulster. Karen has diverse experience in clinical work with young people and adults in a counselling capacity, as well as broad experience in organisational administration.
Her research interests focus on mental health and wellbeing, particularly self-esteem in autistic individuals and masking in young autistic women.
