Project Overview
Exchange House Ireland National Travellers Service are an organisation of Travellers and non-Travellers and a provider of frontline and support services to some of the most marginalised Travellers in Ireland since 1980.
They are a multi-disciplinary service provider offering Education and Training Services, Children and Young People Services, Family Support and Crisis Intervention Services, Addiction Services and the National Traveller Mental Health Service.
They also deliver partnership services through training, community development, provision of expertise and dual working with other organisations providing services to Travellers in Ireland.
The National Office for Suicide Prevention commissioned the National Suicide Research Foundation to review the National Traveller Mental Health Service provided by Exchange House Ireland.
Project Overview
- Conduct a literature review on best practice in mental health service provision for ethnic minorities to include Travellers to inform future directions and recommendations based on cultural context and understanding
- Review the structure of Exchange House Ireland with regards to governance and streams of work, with a focus on how the National Traveller Mental Health Service is delivered in the context of the whole organisation
- Review and report on service data captured by Exchange House Ireland regarding profile of individuals supported
- Assess key stakeholder perspectives on the purpose and scope, operation, and impact of the National Traveller Mental Health Service.
