Strategic Research Cluster: Assessment and Management of Self-Harm and Depression

The development of training, intervention and evaluation projects focusing on assessment and management of self-harm has been a priority for the NSRF over the past 15 years.

This began as part of the European Alliance Against Depression (EAAD, EU funded), and has extended in recent years to projects such as the National Clinical Programme for Patients Presenting to EDs following Self-Harm (HSE funded), Improving Prediction and Risk Assessment of Suicide and Self-Harm (IMPRESS, HRB-funded), review of the Suicide Crisis Assessment Nurse (SCAN, HSE funded), SAMAGH and PRISM.

In 2021, a large-scale European project aimed at upscaling and disseminating the iFightDepression programme for people with mild to moderate depression in Ireland and nine other European countries (EAAD-Best) has been awarded funding by the EU Health Programme.
