Strategic Research Cluster: Bereavement following Suicide

Over more than 10 years, several NSRF research and intervention projects have been conducted addressing the short-term and long-term needs of family members and friends of people who died by suicide (SSIS, SSIS-ACE and related PhD dissertation).

In addition, multiple projects commissioned by HSE NOSP involved conducting reviews and providing advisory input relating to the effectiveness of interventions and support services for people bereaved by suicide. The longstanding track record and expertise in this research area represents a specific research cluster. In 2021, a study has been initiated to evaluate the suicide bereavement peer support groups (Healing Untold Grief Support Groups – HUGG).

This research cluster currently includes three projects:
