National Self-Harm Registry Ireland Annual Report
We are grateful to share the 2025 Annual Report of the National Self-Harm Registry Ireland (NSHRI).
The National Self-Harm Registry Ireland was established in 2000 by the National Suicide Research Foundation, working in collaboration with the School of Public Health, University College Cork.
The Registry was set up at the request of the Department of Health and Children and is funded by the Health Service Executive’s National Office for Suicide Prevention.
It is the world’s first national registry of cases of intentional self-harm presenting to hospital emergency departments and is recognised by the World Health Organization as a template for such surveillance systems.
This report is based on data collected on hospital presentations of self-harm in the Republic of Ireland in 2025.
